Through the implementation of the "Disinformation Fighters Club" project, we addressed the current problem of disinformation among youngsters at the European level. At the partnership level, we learned that young people aged between 18-30 are among the most exposed to the disinformation phenomenon, which has developed exponentially in recent years. Young people are effectively overwhelmed by an enormous amount of information in the online environment, and often they do not have the necessary skills to separate validated/official information from misinformation. During the needs analysis carried prior to mobility, as well as during the training period, we found out that youngsters have relatively low skills in the area of critical thinking and correct information process. Often, the information is multiplied and disseminated in the online media as such, without being passed through the critical filter or even a quick scan for false or partially erroneous information. On the top of this, since the project application (February 2020), the extremely complex period of the Covid-19 pandemic was added, during which the topic of misinformation and critical thinking skills among youngsters became a "hot issue". The objectives of the "Disinformation Fighters Club" project were: O1. To cultivate for 42 young participants, out of which 14 are with fewer opportunities, a mix of competences recognized through Youthpass aimed at critical thinking and avoiding disinformation, with the ultimate goal of promoting dialogue, tolerance and social inclusion. O2. To create a network of 28 youth workers with improved professional skills in the field of digital communication, who are able to take the initiative in the local communities of the partners in the area of correct information and critical thinking, applying the non-formal methods experienced during the project. O3. To generate a pilot model of cross-sectoral cooperation (NGOs, youngsters and local authorities), exploitable on a larger scale in a main-stream system, which would become an example of good practice, as well as to strengthen the capacity of the 7 partners for implementing personal development activities aiming at critical thinking, correct information and avoiding disinformation.
