The Conference on the Future of Europe happened on 15 January 2020, united the European Commission, Parliament and Council for a common declaration of partnership, with the purpose to determine new agreements or amendments to the existing ones, on the future of European democracy during 2020–2022. This initiative was born after the high results of the European elections in May 2019 being the highest turnout in the last 20 years, where more than 50% of EU citizens voted, with a large increase among young people. The project „Empower Youth” aimed to strenghten the efforts of The Conference on the Future of Europe and increase the level of youth civic engagement (civic, electoral, and political participation) at all levels: local, national and European. The objectives of the project were: -to strenghten the interest of young people in civic life, political life and decision making process at local,national and European level; -to understand the importance of youth involvement in shaping the future of European democracy; -to explore minimum 5 possibilities of active involvement in society (volunteering, activation in NGOs, meeting authorities, participation to debate, negociation); -to encourage young people from involved communities to participate in democratic life.
