Online bullying is one of those mass phenomena with effects that are not directly visible, in front of which there are no optimal defense strategies. Despite its magnitude, its gravity often escapes public attention. Young people learn from their own experience what hatred of others looks like to them, and the number of victims can be even higher than is known, because the most traumatized people often refuse to admit, sometimes even to themselves, what is happening to them. Adolescents thus begin their lives believing that society is a space of hatred against them, and the psychological and social effects of the phenomenon are severe and long lasting. Starting from this serious problem of today's young adolescents, through this project we wanted the participation of young people on this subject to be active in society in their personal development and the community in general. Through this type of activity, young people are empowered to play a vital role both in their own development and in that of their communities. Young people are a major human resource for the development of society and are key agents for the socio-cultural change of the world in which we live. The aim of this project was to combat online bullying among high school students by raising awareness of the phenomenon of online harassment and hate speech. The objectives of the project were: - Development of tolerance and understanding for the 48 participants, high school students, in order to combat discrimination and social exclusion, during the 7 days of the exchange; - Development of knowledge about online harassment methods (cyberbullying and cyber-hate) and the extent of this phenomenon, among the 48 participants from 5 European countries, during the 7 days of the exchange; - Increasing the level of knowledge among the 48 participants about safety in the online environment, during the 7 days of the exchange; - Developing the knowledge of the 48 young people about human rights and their connection with digital-media literacy. The project contributed to the fulfillment of the following Erasmus + objectives: - promotes active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, through learning mobility of young people; - contributes to increasing self-confidence and self-esteem; - promotes the assumption of common values, equality, non-discrimination and social inclusion in general.
