With thousands of people still fleeing their countries every day, we are facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in our recent history. Youth workers need to be equipped with related skills, in order to contribute to the empowerment of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to survive through this crisis and start rebuilding their lives in a peaceful society. Also, due to the high number of terrorist attacks in the EU in the previous years in which young people born in Europe were involved, along with the rising number of hate-crime, bullying and xenophobia incidents, we strongly believe that youth work has a crucial role in the young people’s lives. Youth work plays an important role in empowering youth to be more active in the community life, and staying away from extremist ideologies, that can lead to radicalization. The project addresses the needs of both youth and refugees in order to gain skills and competences like leadership, team-work, critical thinking, along with intercultural competences and problem solving, that will help them fully be included in the European society. Moreover, the course will focus on methods of transferring the fundamental values of our society, mostly to prevent the radicalization and exclusion. The project provides the competences and skills that youth workers need for supporting young people that face problems such as marginalization, social exclusion, radicalization, bullying, xenophobia, by empowering them to cope with the challenges of the complex, modern society they live in. The main objective of the project is to help youth workers gain competences in order to support and empower refugees/asylum seekers/immigrants and youth to ensure inclusion and fostering tolerance between people, building a society based of peace and understanding. The aims of the project are: 1. Equipping 27 youth workers (3 workers from each of the 9 countries included in the project) with skills that help them understand, address, resolve and prevent the radical and violent behavior of young people in their communities. along a mobility of 7 days; 2. Developing intercultural understanding skills for 27 youth workers during a 7-day mobility, in order to promote a peaceful, inclusive and tolerant society; 3. Creating an international network for youth workers, youth, refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and NGOs, to share their stories and experiences and use non-formal education to raise awareness and prevent radicalization from an early age. 4. Assisting 27 youth workers involved in the project to tackle and solve problems such as social exclusion, intimidation and xenophobia, while helping them to know the key humanitarian principles; 5. Offering participants a better understanding of the Erasmus + program and to use non-formal education to promote European values.
