Project summary

The increasingly technological society brought the need for engineers, scientist and IT specialists, in contrast with the general tendency of youngster of not pursuing Maths and science fields, neither at school nor as their future career. Our project brings together 6 school from different countries which found out that there is a common issue which can be tackled and addressed, by learning from each other, sharing good practices. Thus, it is designed to support our students to develop their interest in learning science and improve mathematics learning and assessment. The main aim of the project is to develop students’ numerical, scientific & practical skills, by the means of the method of inquiry-based learning. In order to achieve our objectives students will work in Project clubs, where a cross curricular approach will be used, to engage students in the interactive process of discovering and learning. The inquiry-based learning method, hands on learning, sports based learning, virtual online science labs, and STEAM activities, other innovative methods will be used to help students to discover the connection between sciences and real life, stimulating their curiosity and creativity. They will work in groups on scientific investigations or discussing solutions presented by other peers, they are the ones asking questions, making analogies.Students who love sciences will get a deeper insight about the topic. At the same time low-achievers will be stimulated to discover the beauty of sciences through games, cultural workshops, non-formal activities, preventing thus their early school leaving and failure. We also plan 6 LTTAs where 5 students and 2 teachers from each countries will attend and work together. Participants will be also encouraged to act as active citizens being more interested in promoting the local and national values. The international working context will help them to develop their foreign language skills, personal and socio-educational development. At the same time we aim at raising students'creativity, presentation, communication and cooperation skills, some of the most important 21st century skills, which will ensure them an easier adaptation and integration on the job market. The project is addressed to the 12-18 age students from our schools, at least 50 students from each country, supervised and lead by 4-5 teachers will participate actively in the Project clubs activities. Indirectly teachers of different specializations that have to design cross-curricular activities and connect theory to practice for their students will also be the target group. The students will be in charge with fulfilling the activities in the Project clubs, updating the Erasmus corner and attending the project activities, meetings and assessment. Teachers will be leaders and organizers of students’ work. They will also be in charge of transferring new educational approaches and good practices from partner countries, and their application in the school curricula. The main objectives of the project are: By the end of the project: O1: at least 70% of the students in the target group will develop numerical and scientific skills O2: at least 70% of students participating in international meetings will improve their critical thinking and practical skills O3: at least 90% of participants in the target group will improve knowledge of foreign cultures and will become more familiar with learning using inquiry-based learning O4: at least 80% of the students will improve their soft skills and will be able to be more effective in everyday life activities O5: at least 75% of participants will improve communication skills, English and other languages skills O6: all participants will improve curiosity and creativity by connecting sciences to real life O7: all project team members and students will improve organisational, team work and data manipulation skills. The desired impact apart from the participants professional and personal development is to draw attention to the importance of science and possible ways to turn it into approachable activities for demotivated students in the frame of an international exchange of good practices. Participants will acquire and expand key competences cooperating with peers from other EU countries. School curricula will be extended and improved in each participating school. To assure the project sustainability and visibility the results " Science for all "handbook with innovative materials& STEAM activities, 6 “Demonstrative lessons” filmed, presenting one demonstrative innovative activity -learnt and implemented from a partner country, short films/videos of the activities and of the students' works, CLIL lesson plans for Maths, Physics, Biology, Geography, Chemistry, 2 magazines presenting the main activities carried out during international activities, will be uploaded on the project's website and eTwinning account, to make them available and useful to a large school community.

Final report summary

Our technologically advanced society's expanding demands have highlighted the critical need for engineers, scientists, and IT specialists. This is in direct contrast to the current trend among young people, who have demonstrated little interest in pursuing fields connected to Maths and science, both in their academic studies and in their prospective employment choices. Our joint project has brought together five schools from RO,CRO, PO, PL and TR, all of which recognize a common problem that can be effectively addressed through reciprocal learning and the sharing of successful techniques. Our 6th partner, from Latvia, withdrew from the very beginning. Our initiative has been methodically aimed at encouraging our pupils' scientific curiosity while also improving their mathematical skills, while additionally improving teaching and evaluation methodologies. The main objective of our initiative has been to develop our students' numerical, scientific, and practical abilities through the use of inquiry-based learning methodologies. To achieve our goals, students participated actively in Project clubs, where an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach was used to immerse them in a dynamic process of discovery and learning.New methods were also implemented in regular science and arts classes. A variety of new techniques, resulted with collaboration with local universities, including inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiences, sports education, virtual online science labs, and STEAM activities, have been implemented. These new methods were meant to help students discover the numerous connections between science and everyday life, sparking their curiosity and nurturing their creativity. Students worked in groups in these environments, conducting scientific investigations and deliberating on solutions proposed by their peers. They played the roles of investigators and analogy builders. The new teaching-learning methods have given pupils who are passionate about the sciences a thorough comprehension of the subject matter. In addition, it has stimulated the interest of those who had struggled in the past, encouraging them to explore the intriguing nature of the sciences through experiments, outdoor activities, games, thereby preventing early dropout and academic underachievement. Five LTTAs were part of our initiative, in which 5-7 students and 2-3 teachers from every country, joined together. Participants were encouraged to embrace the qualities of committed citizens who are interested in promoting local and social values by engaging in a variety of activities. Their foreign language ability has significantly improved within the global context of our shared efforts, and their personal and socio-educative growth has also advanced significantly. Additionally, we have focused  on enhancing students' inventiveness, enhancing their presenting skills, growing their communicative ability, and strengthening their cooperation abilities that are considered to be among the most crucial for success in the 21st-century labor market. These skills will make it easier for them to integrate and adapt to the workforce. Results : (O1) 77% of target group students developed numerical and scientific skills (O2) 81% of students in international meetings improved critical thinking and practical skills (O3) All participants enhanced knowledge of foreign cultures and inquiry-based learning (O4) 82% of students improved soft skills and effectiveness in daily life (O5) Most participants improved communication skills (O6) All participants enhanced curiosity and creativity by connecting sciences to real life With its emphasis on highlighting the importance of science, the project has the potential to have a lasting impact. It will continue to offer precious resources and lasting benefits: Increased Awareness: The project will promote an ongoing interest for science by raising awareness of its importance. Resourceful Materials: The project's demonstration lessons, innovative materials, and fun STEAM activities will all serve as lasting educational resources. Academic Reference The "Science for All" guidebook will be a useful resource for educators, providing direction and inspiration for effectively teaching science. Inspiration from Media: Teachers and students will continue to be motivated and inspired by short films and videos that highlight project activities and student work, kindling a passion for science. Enriched Teaching:CLIL lesson plans will promote enriched teaching techniques, assuring a more comprehensive education, in subjects like math, physics, biology, geography, and chemistry. Two magazines that summarize the activities of the international initiative will offer viewpoints and insights to a larger school community, encouraging an exchange of ideas. Accessibility: The project's dedicated website will make sure that these valuable assets continue to be visible and accessible, helping both teachers and students in the years to come.
