The project "Visual Storytelling Speaks Louder Than Words" is aiming to develop youth workers’ competences regarding video making as a powerful tool for promoting their organisations in order to reach young people and increase the impact of their actions. Furthermore, the project is likely to enhance the digitalisation of the youth work field, helping youth workers acquire new digital and technical skills, as well as media literacy, many of which are transferable beyond its direct application to the field of social videos, as youth spend an increasing amount of time on the internet and on their devices, it is extremely important for youth workers to follow this digitalisation of society by acquiring relevant ICT skills - our project will help youth workers to take a step in that direction. Our partner team has witnessed a skill shortage in the field youth worker. Neither the staff at NGOs nor even always the young people, that they work with, know how to craft professional looking videos. Even though the skills required to do so are actually quite simple to learn, there are misconceptions that you need professional equipment or a high level of expertise to make impressive films and video pieces. We are sure that with a little practice and ingenuity using low cost equipment, regular people can make videos that are just as engaging as million dollar TV commercials or blockbuster movies. By passing this knowledge onto youth workers from across Europe we hope that they will use it to create promotional videos for their NGOs that have a much greater impact than the work they are currently producing. Objectives of the project are: 1. To provide youth workers with knowledge on how to create a story with a clear message, to film efficiently and to use media channels effectively in order to promote it and reach their target group. 2. To develop youth worker’s skills in filming, editing and publishing videos. 3. To increase participants understanding of media, the process of promoting media messages with special focus on social media as one of the most popular communication channels of young people these days. 4. To increase awareness among youth workers about the importance of video as a tool for disseminating their results and raise the visibility of their organisations in order to increase their impact. 5. To create using learning-by-doing methods 6 promotional videos for 6 local non-profit organisation or social enterprise in Belgrade, acheaving a positive impact on the local level and supporting the participants to reach their target groups. 6. To apply the knowledge and skills acquired by participants during the training course, coming back to their local organisations and creating 10 promotional videos for the 5 partner organisations involved on this project during the Local Action Phase. 7. To disseminate the knowledge acting as multipliers and share the skills acquired during the Training Course by youth workers delivering media literacy workshops for youth in their organisations during the Local Action Phase. 8. To strengthen cooperation between partner organisations and to provide them with the context to develop new project ideas with the focus on enhancing media literacy among youth.
