Objectives of the project were: - To understand the concept of diversity better same as to provide space to explore own attitude towards diversity - To learn directly about diversity through meeting peers from other country, discussions and learning from each other - To reflect on importance of diversity and the challenges it faces around the world, - To raise the awareness about different types of discrimination based on diversity - To exchange experience and views and to create new strategies on how to enhance and support diversity - To learn about different sports, how are the values related to diversity reflected in them and how sport can be used as a tool to enhance diversity and inclusion - By implementing this project, we wanted to emphasise the importance of diversity but also all the issues around accepting and living diversity that exist in our communities and society in general. Connecting this topic to the topic of sport seemed and proved as a very good idea since sport is something where all the differences need to be overcame in order to reach the final aim which is victory and this is especially the case in group sports. Since sports and sport matches (especially football) are often the ground where a lot of hate, racism and all tips of discrimination and disrespect is being expressed, we found this topic relevant to emphasise and emphasise its other side – which is using the sports as tool that will support acceptance, understanding and peace despite the differences that might exist among the team players and in this case, that existed among the participants of our project snice thy had different backgrounds. This project was developed and implemented with the idea of supporting mutual learning about diversity – what it is, how it works, why intercultural dialogue is important… all the knowledge, skills and attitudes that can benefit participants in the future. This project aimed and we are sure that it succeded to empower participants to use sports to promote and support diversity in their local communities, sport clubs, schools etc. As already mentioned, through this project we also addressed some of the important issues like raising negative perception towards diversity all around the Europe and division between “us” and “them”. Although Europe is very multicultural, this division is becoming bigger and bigger and this has especially been visible since Covid pandemics started. No matter the Covid, different forms of discrimination have always existed in our societies, our countries, even in smallest villages. There is always someone who is different in some way and who “doesn’t fit” into bigger image. Contrary to that, with this project we discussed and anted to find a solution how to change that narrative. Since sport is frequently used as a ground for expressing hate and intolerance toward others and different we also wanted to look deeper into sport and see what is really there and we actually realized that sports, no matter the type, all have common things: respect towards opponents, harmony, peace… and this is the message we want to keep sharing after this project. Merging the topic of diversity with the sport topics, we wanted to promote sport as a tool for enhancing understanding, inclusion and peaceful coexistence despite differences.
