Continue developing our workplace based learning abroad both quantitatively and qualitatively: Give the participants a more nuanced idea of natural resources in Europe and the effects of challenges due to climate change. Increased awareness of sustainable development. Increased vocational competence and thus increased employability. International experience as an important qualification for future work. Increased goal completion of national governing documents and international strategies such as the Europe 2020-strategy, EU:S Systematic Framework for Education and Training, the goals for Erasmus+ mobility, EU:s Life long Learning Key Competences and parts of Agenda 2030. Develop the students' motivation, self-esteem, social competence and responsibility. Widen the perspective for students from the countryside who have little experience of travelling and meeting new cultures. Improved language skills and general communication skills. Enrich our organisation with the students' experience from abroad. Create a more attractive education in natural resources.
As part of their education all students at Lillerudsgymnasiet do 15 weeks of workplace based learning. This is implemented at farms with different production, stud farms, riding schools, veterinary clinics, dog shelters, competition stables etc. In order to give the students an international perspective we have workplace based learning abroad through Erasmus+. The industry of natural resources is internationally connected and countries are dependent on each other. Its labour market and its production are affected by international trade and decisions taken by the EU as well as political affairs. Thus, it is of utmost importance that our students get basic knowledge about influencing factors and conditions whilst preparing for work within the industry. One part in that preparation is to get the chance to work abroad. Also, we see a growing interest in working abroad after graduation. With climate change the conditions for farming and animal keeping are changing and are becoming more challenging. International cooperation will be essential. The students can get some insight and knowledge through their work abroad. Spending some time abroad also leads to the students' personal development and understanding of another culture.
