The goal was that the students would develop their understanding of other opinions, their own social competence, approach to service and personal treatment as well as in turn be more secure in their future careers. The self esteem would grow when they managed to do things in a new environment. The enhanced linguistic knowledge would give the participants more job opportunities in the future. We thougt that this project would lead to less drop outs from school and lead to higher results for the students at our Hotel- and tourismprogram. Through their education and work experience in both Sweden and internationally, the hope was that students could be hired within the tourismindustry in Europe.
This project had the intention of giving students of the Hotel and Tourism Programme international work experience. Through completing a portion of their work experience abroad the students gain a better understanding of other cultures and develop their communication in a second language, which is important within the industry. It is also extremely important that students travel and experience other countries, their sights, culture and cuisine. Hopefully the students will experience cultural diversity as something positive and enriching, both at trips abroad as well as back at home in Sweden.
