As an aim to go further with the idea of youth empowerement and inclusion of young people, especially those facing difficulties the most in our societies (fewer opportunities, NEET, refugees, migrants, youngsters facing social, economic, educational and geographical obstacles), the present partner organisations have gathered and dicuss the need to work on deep understanding and discuss youth work as a tool for social inclusion. Youth work is a field constantly changing and adapting. Never before as nowadays, youth work was such a focus of understanding and professional development. That's mainly because of the changes Europe has been seeing in the last years - after the 2008 economic crisis and after the refugees crisis, which brought new challenges for youth work in matters of inclusion of people with disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the reports (such as Caritas Europa - "The young in Europe need a future!") and Eurostat, youth is still one of the groups hit the most by the effects of the 2008 economic crisis, facing high levels of unemployment, trapped in internships schemes without any social protection, feeling insecure about their future and with many difficulties to enter the labour market and get an addequate job for their level of qualifications. This means that, even most young people belong to a generation which is probably the one living in a world of opportunities - which was not available before (due the European exchange oportunities they have and the era of information they live in), this also chaced young people with many difficulties and at the same time, the future of those was never so uncertain, as the risk factors are increasing - like migrant flows, struggles in the financial market, etc. This project came to an idea of developing social networking, social cohesion, social engagement skills and build up soft skills needed for young people to face these challenges. In this way, we have agreed (the partners of the project) that, in order to better support these young generations in our local levels, we need to develop strong network abroad (in order to give more opportunities for our younsgsters, break stereoptypes and develop their awareness on the intercutlural reality we live nowadays) and better equip our youth workers towards a better individual and social development of our young volunteers. Indeed, by doing this, we aim to contibute to social inclusion via youth work - the work we develop in our NGOs w/ the youngsters. From one side, we want to work on and discuss the important concepts of social inclusion and youth work, share best practices between the organisations to overcome future challenges and develop a strong network across borders to get better and faster answers for our youngsters' difficulties. We also aim to work on common strategies to better face lack of self-esteem, of social engament skills and professional competences which very often are visible among our young people. In the other hand, with this project, we will to strenghten the capacity of youth work to provide meaningful methods and activities for young people in our local enviroments so the youngsters have fruitful ways to spend their leisure time, developing themselves and identify greatful outcomes for youth all over Europe. In this way, this Seminar will be a platform to 1. share professional and personal experiences between the participants and NGOs with special focus on young people, 2. work on personal development and 3. discuss how to attract young people to a voluntary participation (especially those in risk of exclusion) - the three policy features of youth work. It's also aim to the project to: from one side, work on youth work and youth workers professional development - so, they can have better answers and even better impact and influence among youngsters; and also approach NGO's and youth organisations' work - those who can have an influence in the society. It is so, because taking the challenge of overcome inclusion of youngsters with disadvantaged backgrounds goes through working with this target group and on their inclusion process; however, it's also crucial to work on the society understanding of those minorities, promoting acceptance and tolerance towards them. As a third level, we also think it's equally important to work with youngsters who are not yet facing any kind of disadvantages; and provide them support as much as possible to accept minorities and do not become a target risk (by working on prevention of exclusion, through personal and professional development of young people). These three factors, we believe, are the crucial basis to work towards inclusion and a more equal society. If we manage to get through best practices and learn with each other during this Seminar, in the elements mentioned above, we will also be working on participation of young people in democratic society, prevention of risk behaviour and social inclusion and cohesion.
