Today, youth work is a progressive field that provides space and opportunities for young people to shape their own future and has a very important role in encouraging them to take responsibility for others and get involved in shaping society beyond more individual interests. In reaction to ongoing and sudden challenges that European society is facing today, CSOs and youth workers react and adapt to the changing dynamics with a wide range of approaches they have in nature such as youth unemployment, refugees and migrants and others. Thus, recognition of Youth Work and Youth workers as a professional sector shaping societies' development through skills and competencies is essential. In this matter, “Level Up in Erasmus+” International TC on Project Design and Management for newcomers in Erasmus+ focused on the Erasmus+ KA1 projects with a high number of implementations around Europe and Eastern Partnership Countries, thus increasing the quality of the design and content of projects, its impact, dissemination and Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) in order to strengthen the effect of KA1 projects and monitor the further stages and evaluation as such. Youth Work in Europe started to develop intensively in the last decades mainly through civil society organizations (CSO). Up to now, CSOs kept their position as the main providers of Youth Work. With the increasing number and scope of Youth Work projects focusing on the ongoing and actual challenges of society, the need for professionalism, standardization, and quality assurance work within the CSOs became a crucial need. This inevitable situation has created the demand for developing standards and quality assurance as well as the main focus on project aspects; monitoring its management and learning outcomes, evaluating the overall implementation and impact and follow-up the learning and application of experience of participants. According to our detailed desk research developed in the preparation of this project application, we lack common project standards of youth work across Europe. Youth work as such as national and international especially European level sector and thus the “Level Up in Erasmus+” in development of program and evaluation phases considered multilevel approach in its nature. In this matter, the theory and practice, in other words, knowledge and implementation skills were taken as the main aim and comprehensive approach of this project. We believe that having quality assurance and Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) in project design under the concept of youth work will increase the recognition of the sector, quality of youth work services and in the long-term, better address challenges young people face, especially today’s main challenges youth are facing in terms of exclusion and unemployment. Therefore, this international training course was designed for project managers who focus their work on the design and implementation of KA1 projects within the Erasmus+ programme. The project included three essential dimensions: - Design and structure of KA1 projects - Quality provision of KA1 projects - Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation of KA1 projects. The aim of the TC was to develop competencies of youth workers, youth leaders, project managers and mentors on how to structurally design educational activities within KA1 projects of the Erasmus+ programme by focusing on the aspects of its quality, monitoring, learning and evaluation. Specific objectives of the TC were: - To transfer knowledge to youth workers, project coordinators/managers about the structural and quality design of KA1 projects in the field of youth, - To build up skills in the conduct of monitoring and evaluation within KA1 projects in the field of youth, - To introduce concrete mechanisms to ensure learning of the participants of mobility projects, - To enable an environment for networking and practice sharing in relation to the implementation of KA1 projects.
