The project had been designed with the purpose to inspire and empower young people, improving their creativity, discovering their talents, and being able to think about and implement solutions to address societal needs and, in particular, the desire to live in more inclusive communities where everybody can have the same opportunities. A common issue had been identified by all the partner organizations: the sense of loss of many young people who did not know what they wanted or what they could do in the future, who were not aware of their possibility of actions and who hardly found models or support within their society. The consequence of this situation were feelings of distrust, low self-esteem, and closure towards the other. To this, it was added the consequence of the migration crisis which determined in our countries an increase in the number of youth with refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, and IDPs backgrounds. The lack of support for these youth had determined, in many cases, a phenomenon of violence and discrimination and had increased the distance between locals and newcomers who see “the others” as “diverse” and “dangerous”. Against this background, the project aimed to involve 30 young people from 5 countries representing three regions (Europe, Caucasus, Middle East) who together with 6 youth leaders/facilitators, would take part in a youth exchange in Tbilisi from 05/09/2020 to 11/09/2020 (including traveling days). Although the Youth Exchange took part in Ricadi, Italy from 08/09/2022 to 14/09/2022 (including traveling days) due to the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical issues which contrasined us to ask for: extending the project, changing partner and changing the venue for the exchange. The activities proposed during the exchange were based on the use of Non-Formal Education methodology and to serve to: -discover their talents, get inspired, and identify challenges in their communities trying to elaborate solutions; -be empowered with tools that allow them to act in their own realities; -be aware of their opportunities and their potential role as a youth to play as the main actors fighting discrimination and promoting inclusion within their society; -identify the existence of common values such as inclusion and the value of differences as a way to enhance their sense of belonging to a global community beyond borders. Competences achieved during the process were recognized through the youthpass certificate, which was also used as a tool for the self-assessment of the participants to be aware of their learning process during the entire path.
