With the help of this project it was anticipated professional development would increase the level of motivation and job satisfaction in the individual, add to our area of expert competences in the chosen fields and increase the level of awareness regarding the intertwinning of Europe; also adding to the understanding of practices, policies and educational systems in different countries. Considering our organization, it is obviously paramount to develop the ability to introduce changes and innovations, further on forming a model in the pedagogical process that will emphasize greater student involvement and assistance of the staff, also boosting our abilities to function in the international environment. With professional development of this kind, it is then much easier to keep up with the rapidly changing world of the 21. century and suitably prepare our students for satisfying, productive life and active involvement in the international society, which is what we have set as our mission and also presents an integral part of our vision.
Reflecting on past experiences and setting a vision for future professional development, we set ourselves four main objectives that we wanted to address throughout this project: 1. Helping young people to be more involved in activities, projects, in the learning process itself. Improving young people's ability to persevere when encountering obstacles and difficulties, and not to give up when confronted with frustration. There is a growing perception that the coming generations are demanding, powerful, but also very sensitive and fragile. 3 Giving young people real experiences and enabling them to develop directly applicable competences in the modern world. Today's generations are strongly inclined towards useful, applicable knowledge and repeatedly mention that there is not enough of it in the secondary school curriculum. 4. Systematically develop an awareness of internationality, interconnectedness and shared responsibility for the common good. It is through the new knowledge and insights of teaching staff in all these areas that the development of competences that are essential for a successful and satisfying life for young people in the 21st century can be better addressed.
