With the project, we wanted to: - improve staff competencies for modern pedagogical work; - develop new methods for teaching and training students and unaccompanied minors; - increase the inclusion of students with fewer opportunities in various activities; - increase tolerance; - establish healthier patterns of student behaviour; - develop key competences (communication in a foreign language, ICT); - introduce international content into the school and student residence hall curriculum.
At our school, we have identified challenges in promoting innovation, a responsible attitude to work, flexibility and an international dimension among employees, students and unaccompanied minors. We noticed intolerance between the different groups represented at our school (migrants, immigrants, students with fewer opportunities...), therefore we wanted to familiarize ourselves with content that addresses intercultural and social competences and thereby improve the school atmosphere. Project participants were teachers and educators who already have a lot of experience in teaching, and wanted to acquire new, modern methods, content, and tools for teaching, which would attract students and increase their motivation to learn. Some of these skills cannot be gained without the introduction of an international dimension, either because certain areas are less developed in Slovenia (e.g. work with unaccompanied minors), or because structured training in these fields is often too expensive for schools.
