In the meetings we had with the teachers, we found that the teachers are insufficiently creative, which prevents the development of creativity in the students. We are aware that the majority of the team is older, which is a problem when introducing the novelty. Thus, with the implementation of the project, we want to achieve an increase in the quality of teaching as well as an increase in the creativity of students and teachers. We intend to increase the quality of teaching through additional education of teachers in the professional field, i.e. to acquire new, modern knowledge in the individual professional fields (chemistry, biology, history, geography, physical education, foreign languages, Slovenian). We intend to achieve this through teachers' participation in structured courses with current content (ICT, lessons outside the classroom, modern teaching methods). We will primarily try to increase the creativity of students and teachers, because if we want to have creative and creative students, we must first have creative teachers. Teachers will be able to put their creativity into practice if they think outside the box, are focused on targeted learning and know how to quickly adapt to the given situation, which is made possible by targeted training abroad.
As a school, we have been successfully participating in Erasmus+ programs for several years. With the support of Erasmus+ and other activities that we simultaneously integrated at the school level, we managed to carry out a series of activities that connect our school with other European schools. With each Erasmus+ program, we create new activities during lessons, achieve new results, raise the quality of lessons and change the organization itself. We estimate that in order to raise the quality of teaching, teachers need additional professional and didactic skills as well as knowledge in the field of personal development. In order to increase creativity, teachers need knowledge about innovations in the profession and presentations of examples of good practices. With the combination of knowledge and the transfer of experience between them, they will be able to implement changes, new activities and forms of work in the lessons, in such a way as to encourage creativity and innovation in students. First of all, we reviewed training courses on the Slovenian market, but we did not find content that would represent an upgrade of our existing activities. We found that the work goals within the framework of the European Development Plan and the school plan can only be achieved through individual training abroad, training at workplaces abroad and teaching at a school abroad. That is why we decided to achieve our goals through the Eramus+ project.
