Background

Being a technical school we are well aware that besides theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge acquired during practical lessons or practical training at the employer is very important. Approximately 25% of students with a lower socioeconomic status attend our school, as many as 11% of all students have special needs and each year we get approximately 5% of immigrant students. Working with this population of students presents a challenge for our professors. Although we have properly qualified staff it is important that the professors constantly follow innovations in the labor market, inform themselves about the latest technology and appropriate teaching methods which should be used especially for students who need more support. We have also found out that although young people encounter English on a daily basis, their professional English is not fluent. Mobility abroad thus not only enables progress in the knowledge of English and the learning of other foreign languages but also improves professional knowledge and competences by acquiring content that is not covered by our school curricula. Valuable experiences and work practices from abroad have an important influence on students being more competitive on the labor market.
