With the implementation of the project, we wanted to provide our young people with on-the-job training abroad, in well-known professional fields, but in a new environment. They themselves are often labeled as different within society, and in the case of involvement in this project, they may have had the opportunity to receive training in jobs where they are only ordinary adolescents and not just labelled as those who are “problematic”. Getting to know new languages, cultures and music is also extremely important for them. Through training abroad, our students have also eliminate many prejudices about them and their special needs.
VIZ Višnja Gora provides secondary vocational education programs and institutional care programs. Through vocational education and training, it prepares students for independent living, our educational efforts are focused on independence and of course personal and social integration. Within the network of the Slovenian educational institutions, we accept adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders aged 14 to 18 on the basis of decisions of family courts or juvenile courts, imposed educational measures of placement in an educational institution. We joined this project because we think it is extremely important that our students, who are often stigmatized due to enrollment in an educational institution, have the opportunity to taste work and living outside of their native country. For most, this is the first experience of its kind, for many the only one, but certainly it is unique for all.
