Objectives

The project aimed to improve the skills of key staff in the organisation, as they are responsible for planning, developing and delivering training programmes and consultancy activities in adult education. Our aim was to gain knowledge about new learning content related to sustainability, to learn about new digital tools and to observe the work of an Adult Education organisation that has already succeeded in its digital breakthrough (through job shadowing). We wanted to bring new approaches to career guidance, design new learning workshops, strengthen the introduction of blended learning and make education even more flexible and accessible for participants. At the same time, we aimed to make the delivery of existing content more attractive by introducing a range of new learning methods, which would motivate participants not only to stay in lifelong learning but also to engage in it in the future. With all this, we also wanted to update the vision of the organisation, based on the digital transition and sustainable content, and to strengthen the international cooperation of our organisation.

Background

The needs of our participants are diverse, which is reflected in our wide range of training and guidance activities. Life and society are changing rapidly and so are educational needs. As an adult education organisation, we need to continuously adapt to the challenges of modern society and respond to the changing needs of the local environment. New (educational) themes are coming to the fore, such as education for sustainable lifestyles. It is of utmost importance to adapt the learning process to the different target groups through the use of modern teaching methods such as digital tools on the one hand and learning in nature on the other. Different learning methods are suitable for different learning needs, but all of them should encourage participants to become lifelong learners, which is the mission of our organisation. International cooperation is a way to look beyond established frameworks of thought and practice. Training abroad is not only about acquiring new knowledge and skills to improve our work. There we experience "aha" moments, are amazed when we hear about an outstanding example of good practice and admire organisations that have already implemented the changes we want to make ourselves.
