Objectives

Permakul exchange tackles the most pressing issue of our time, the climate crisis. This legacy of past generations is falling on the shoulders of the young, placing them in the unenviable position of struggling to get out of the grip of their own powerlessness and the ignorance of decision-makers. Through the objectives of the exchange, we aimed to contribute to the personal growth and empowerment of young people, focusing on the acquisition of experience, competences and skills in the field of sustainable development, ecosystem food production, care for nature and its resources. The project took the form of non-formal education, in various workshops related to organic food production and contemporary artistic practices, through which we tried to reflexively draw attention to pressing issues and raise public awareness of the need for change and appropriate behaviour in relation to the environment. The workshops ended with a presentation of the newly created products (permaculture high beds and artworks) and a final multimedia event. The young participants, usually still in school and unemployed, were given the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop relevant competences, which will increase their chances of future employment and full participation in the socio-economic life of the community. It can be stated with certainty that the experience and the newly acquired knowledge and skills acquired by the participants during the exchange have increased their capacity to perceive the various contemporary social currents and challenges, which they will be able to face and, through their behaviour, to set an example and a model for the appropriate behaviour of individuals and groups in their own and other environments, from the local to the international level.
