Objective of the project is to provide young people with a strong learning experience, focused on community life, sustainable concepts and practical skills. We will use methods of non-formal education and experiential learning. We believe that doing things ourselves and getting hands dirty is the most effective way of acquiring new competences. Participants will gain skills in gardening, sustainable agriculture, natural building techniques, basics of self-sufficiency, life in the countryside. On the emotional side we expect to achieve higher levels of self-reflection, meditation, maturity and inner peace. We aim at involving participants in the process of creating the journey, in order to shape it according to their wishes and needs. We work towards creating a resilient and deeply interconnected group, where young people can share and learn from each other respectfully. The activities will be focused on creating a temporary community which will move and work together: participants will relate to each other cooperatively and caringly, sharing challenges and beautiful moments. We chose the dimension of community as frame for our work because it provides a safe environment, where participants feel they can express themselves freely. Its features make it thus adapt to include young people from a disadvantaged situation, to see they are like everybody else, recognize their own worthiness and overcome their difficulties. We plan to research sustainability in theory and practice, on different levels: social, economical, environmental. We want to spread knowledge on environmental issues and different ways to approach them, exploring different lifestyles, projects, commercial enterprises. To do so, we will visit a selected range of projects active on these topics and learn from their best practices. Thanks to the youth exchange these places will connect to each other, getting empowered to work together broadening their individual field of action. We mean to enrich the local community and the territory of Istria with flavors and colors from different countries, enhancing intercultural tolerance and spreading european values and feeling of belonging. We envision to bring youthful laughter and energy to rural areas, creating and stimulating intergenerational exchange. We hope to get a positive response from the local environment resulting in increased interest towards our activities, the topics involved and international projects. We aspire to extend the results of the youth exchange outside the group of actors directly involved in it. Our aim is to raise awareness about the topics touched, to spread the experimental methods and practices used, and to inspire other people and entities to start their own initiatives. The goal is to achieve all of this while having fun, sharing a great time together and enjoying every step of the journey. The beauties of nature will soothe and nurture us. We will practice to keep a positive attitude while facing challenges, meeting difficult and joyous moments with a smile.
