The project Youth workers for sustainable organizations addressed many environmental challenges, such as the global production of greenhouse gasses, environmental pollution through overproduction of products, transport, etc. Although the biggest polluters are actually large companies and corporations, the responsibility is often shifted to individuals, especially young people. Although it is important that young people and individuals change their habits and look for solutions in their everyday life, the impact on the structural functioning of society is insufficient. Therefore, in the organization, we found one of the solutions in strengthening knowledge, skills and designing products that can encourage institutions - specifically youth organizations - to make a change. The key individuals who work in them are youth workers, who are also role models for the participants that youth organizations reach with their projects, programs, etc. Therefore, the main purpose of the project was to train youth workers to take on the role of promoters of sustainable changes in their own organizations and among young people. We started from a bottom-up approach, as we are convinced that individuals alone cannot have a huge impact on the environment by themselves, but we can achieve the effect of change by uniting several individuals who make responsible and sustainable decisions and, united, become a more important interlocutor for decision-makers. The goals of the project were: - to educate the youth workers about the basics of the sustainable development and environmental justice field (what it is, how we harm our environment and what consequences this (the current state?) brings, what are the current biggest challenges in this area, how our lifestyle and consumption habits harm environmental resources), - to augment the youth workers abilities with key skills of changing behavior and influencing the behavior of others (through non-formal education methods), - to gather good practices of youth workers' or youth organizations' influence on their own environment (we focused on Zero Waste principles and on changing consumer habits - emphasizing the reduction of single-use plastic consumption - and on reducing our carbon footprint) and - to validate the above in practice and prepare a tool that will help other organizations that work with young people in these areas (by preparing Guidelines for sustainable organizations, a tool for supporting organizations that will make it easier to start implementing changes and a collection of good practices - advice, activities, methods).
