Our project sought to make young people aware of the noble aspects of volunteering. At the same time, we have underlined the benefits of volunteering for young people. Through volunteering, we have strengthened our competences and further developed ourselves. We discovered that volunteering uncovers what it really means to be human and what it means to receive help when one really needs it. With the #JoinUs project, we have added a touch of art to volunteering and the free expression of young people and we want the project to become an example of philanthropy, altruism and the good practice in the international environment. Our project aimed to reach numerous young people and contributed to their active inclusion into their local environments and their active participation at the European level through their involvement in international projects. At the same time, our project's target was to inspire other similar projects across Europe. We are very happy to have achieved this goal by inspiring Estonian and Croatian group to prepare a similar project in the nearest future. We found out that volunteering is a selfless endeavour which is making the world a better place and helps us discover ourselves. We have collected examples of best practices from each participating country of voluntary work and we discussed about vulnerable target groups (Roma minority, LGBTQ+ community, refugees, migrants, sex discrimination, cultural diversity and racial discrimination). The main goals of our project were: to familiarize participants with the concept of volunteering and its impact on local environment, to get to know volunteering and good volunteering practices from partnering countries, youth and volunteering work, to bring voluntary work closer to young participants and develop their personal competences, develop their self-esteem and confidence, to get to know vulnerable groups through volunteering as well as minorities of Pomurje, who we visited and helped through volunteering. We have promoted the Erasmus+ programme with personal experience and with the help of sending organizations. Participants had a chance to share their knowledge and experience with voluntary work and goals of European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ programme.
