FUTURE TELLING 3: System Error is international youth exchange program. Partner countries in project are Slovenia, Croatia, Israel, Belgium, Germany and Finland. The main reason for designing the youth exchange project was the need for the implementation of new knowledge, skills and methods in work with youth in theatre. Participants from each of the partnering countries (8 from each country, 48 in total) will be involved in the exchange that will take place in Koper, Slovenia (23 – 30 August 2020). A range of different approaches to work with youth in theatre and new work methods in youth theatre (from physical theatre, devised theatre, Lecoque’s masks, ...) will be presented during the exchange. Participants will work in mixed groups and will present their work and work in progress to other groups under the supervision of professional mentor. The presentations will serve as an insight to different methods and work flow that will be used while working on folk tales form six different countries. The theme of all workshops will be "system malfunctions" - what did we - as a civilisation - do wrong, how did we make a fertile ground for a varieties of crises, such as a migrant, economical or environmental crisis, especially because there is enough wealth and resources on earth, if they were only distributed evenly and fair. The participants will pre-collect material (identification of the main system malfunctions – errors; interviews with migrants, poor people, rich people, environmental activists ...; , articles from newspapers, police report on unauthorised border crossings ...). In the introductory workshop of author's theatre this material will be shaped in the theatrical scenarios. These will be worked on in various theatrical methods that will be presented at the workshops. The main goal of the project is to present new methods to participants, methods that they will be able to use in their (professional) work in the future. They will gain new theatre knowledge and skills on how to re-interpret and actualize the content of a given subject. The project develops critical thinking of young participants. Theatre does not only give them voice, but also the audience - the ears that will listen. It raises the interest of young people for the matters of the society in which they live. Theatre provides a platform for researching relationships among themselves, within their environment and environment outside the boundaries of their society. Young participants will be involved in all stages of preparation. By doing so we want to give them additional knowledge of organising, communicating with the public and planning, the knowledge they will be able to use in their professional lives. Young participants will share their newly gained knowledge in their local environments to the other members of their theatre groups. The skills will help individuals and groups to raise the quality level in youth theatre production. During the exchange, partner organisations will exchange their experiences and practices in working with young people at an internal conference, in order to be able to compare their work and later introduce possible improvements. Partnering organisations will form a network and will invite new organisations to join in. The network will serve for exchange of groups and best practices in youth theatre.
