Objectives

The main goal of our youth exchange was to encourage young people to start thinking about their further career paths. We mainly worked on motivating young people to look for examples of good practices in the countryside and to see opportunities in the countryside. The aim of our first youth exchange was to connect curious young people who have the motivation and will to achieve their goals, have a positive attitude and are optimistic, with young people who live in problem areas in terms of unemployment and we gave them opportunities that maybe they didn't even know they existed. Together with the participants, we created Our Career Compass, a virtual tool that contains a network of young, driven individuals who pursue their goals through the acquisition of experience and competencies. The Career Compass virtual tool represents a common mosaic of experience, competences, knowledge and other practical skills that we have acquired through the exchange. In it, you can find guidelines and advice on how to write a good, interesting resume that will attract employers, whether in a domestic or foreign environment. Through workshops, we taught young people how to best sell themselves on the labor market, how to present themselves as a "market brand" and how important promotion and the very way of presenting oneself is. We organized a nine-day youth exchange for 25 young people from Slovenia, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. All these countries are experiencing high youth unemployment, which we also discussed at the exchange. Therefore, for the participants of the exchange, who mostly come from rural areas or rural environments, it is especially important that they have gained new acquaintances, friends, experience, knowledge, etc. through the exchange. In this way, young people can get their first desired job with the newly acquired knowledge and experience. The exchange took place in a tourist resort outside the hustle and bustle of the city, where the space allowed us to socialize, outdoor activities such as walks in nature, outdoor games and encouraged networking and getting to know young people with each other. During the exchange, the young people met the successful director of Term 3000, who introduced us to the thermal baths, their operations, and the beginnings of the thermal baths in the countryside. Termo 3000 employs over 200 people, so the director also presented us with their recruitment process, the way they interview employees and what competencies they look for in employees. The young people had the opportunity to talk to him and asked a lot of questions that interested them. With the young people, we also visited the Passera Chocolate Factory, where we met a young entrepreneur in the countryside, who presented us with her journey and the beginning of her career. Through the Our Career Compass exchange, we connected young people facing similar problems. We presented young people with the possible steps and ways in which they can best follow their career path, so that they can start acquiring formal and informal knowledge, practical experience and various skills.
