Objectives

Strengthening the personal growth of our teachers, improving the quality of teaching and, last but not least, increasing the reputation of the school. The project was primarily focused on three priorities, namely: 1. improvement of professional training of teachers in the bilingual section and implementation of new methods in teaching, 2. improvement of language and communication skills of teachers and 3. sustainability of nature and "zero waste" philosophy. To fulfill the goals, teachers with many years of teaching experience were recruited, who were interested in moving forward professionally and using the acquired skills and experience in their further teaching activities. Three teachers from the bilingual section worked on acquiring new knowledge, experience and methods in teaching school subjects in English. To achieve this goal, courses corresponding to progressive and modern teaching methods were taken in the bilingual section, specifically the CLIL method, the improvement of ICT. The visit to Finnish schools was a great inspiration not only for European but also for global education. The courses were focused on communication skills that will develop fluency in expression, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Pupils will also benefit from these courses, as the teachers' ability to express themselves in foreign languages will increase. They will also benefit from internet portals for teachers. where there are many tutorial worksheets. Last but not least, the awareness of students and teachers about the sustainability of the environment will be increased, with a focus on the "zero waste" lifestyle. This fact helped us in further work on environmental projects. Our school is very active in the field of European and international cooperation. Exchange stays are very popular among both students and teachers. Our school has been involved in the Germany-Poland-Slovakia exchange for more than 10 years, it started years ago as a project, but after the end of the project we still continue the exchange. Our school is sincerely interested in cooperation with other European schools and institutions. In the past, our school was involved in the Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein EU FUNDS project. The project was implemented with the Norwegian school Molde twice. As in the past and in the present, we want to offer our current students to meet new friends from Europe, for the purpose of intercultural communication.

Background

The main goal was to improve the language and communication skills of teachers, as well as effective integration ICT technology in the teaching process in order to modernize teaching at our school. We applied for the project primarily to improve the professional training of teachers in the bilingual section and to implement new methods in teaching, to improve the language and communication skills of teachers and to increase the environmental awareness of both students and teachers. It was important to provide teachers with many years of teaching experience who are interested in moving forward professionally and using the acquired skills and experience in their further teaching activities. The priority effort was to increase the ability of teachers to express themselves in foreign languages, to prepare better and more engaging lessons, also with the help of new internet portals and applications. The goal was also to develop the students' excellent communication skills in an acceptable and interesting way for them, as well as to increase the awareness of students and teachers about the sustainability of the environment with a focus on the "zero waste" lifestyle. Our school has a rich history of implemented projects of foreign cooperation and international mobility, and we would like to continue this activity. We see this project as a promising way to gain new international contacts among foreign educators participating in the given project and in selected courses.
