By implementing the project, firstly, we wanted to stay in touch with the languages we teach. Then to master the soft skills ourselves as teachers on the level which was offered in the structured courses we had chosen and finally introduce soft skills in practical teaching (with the focus on enhancing students' ability to communicate effectively in a foreign language, teach them how to work together in a team, negotiate and resolve conflicts, think creatively, be resistant to stress, have the ability to self-reflect and empathize) Another goal was to participate in two job-shadowing stays in France and get familiar with school educational programs in their mother tongue, foreign languages and natural sciences. We hoped to implement at least one eTwinning project and establish partnerships with new schools. We are happy that these goals have been met.
Erasmus+ projects are one of the few options that teachers can use when they want to broaden their horizons abroad. It is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally in the approved subject and at the same time improve the communication competence in foreign languages so much needed these days. The European dimension is also very important, i.e. establishing contacts with colleagues and looking for partners for possible future cooperation. When choosing the topic of the project, we focused on the students´ needs and decided to enhance their soft skills. Therefore, the name of our project was: Soft skills in school education. Soft skills are in demand by employers on job portals and we saw an opportunity to bring and introduce soft skills into the School Education Program in at least a few subjects.
