The aim of the mobility of students from the field of clothing design was to gain theoretical and practical experience in the field of upcycling and recycling and to use them in practice, to learn how to make new clothes from old pieces by means of an assignment: Deconstruction of old, unused clothes and reuse of its parts, while the students had to move the positioning of the clothing parts from a flat form to a 3D object and use the patchwork textile technique during production. We wanted to implement these modern technologies and techniques into our thematic plans and thus expand the theoretical teaching of processing clothes with their practical component. The goal of job shadowing was to use "best practice" to develop a high-quality thematic plan and teaching methodology in the field of upcycling and recycling in clothing design. The teacher had to acquire knowledge, skills and experience and in the form of "best practice" develop high-quality thematic plans and teaching methodology. The creative work and professional level of the project should provide students and teacher with access to professional terminology in a foreign language and thus expand their opportunities to apply themselves in developing labor market.
The need of our school is to educate students and teachers in ever-advancing design disciplines and to include in the field of teaching current elements that meet the needs of practice, and thus also the labor market. Our goal is to build motivation in students and teachers to get involved in international projects to expand their professional competences and communication skills, not only in terms of communication in a foreign language, but also in teamwork. We want to increase their courage to engage on a global scale and later use valuable experience from abroad on the Slovak market, train them in competitive skills and flexibility in the creative industry and raise their awareness in the area of racial and ethnic equality. We joined the project because we considered it necessary to focus within the field of clothing design on the production of clothing and components through upcycling and recycling. Our goal was to implement the process of reusing clothes and secondary processing of products into teaching, to put it into the concept of sustainable fashion and include in the thematic plans and school curricula. The school thus leads its students to ecological thinking. Our partner was the Kuressaare Ametikool school in Estonia.
