We are partnership of four organisations - MEMORY Center and Terapeutika from Slovakia, Spokojeny senior from Czech republic and Educational Centre Socialization from Latvia. We see that there is quite strong pressure on seniors and they are facing to rapidly changing environment. Our elderly citizens want and are able how to be part of a strong Europe. Being mentally healthy and flexible is a big challenge for them. We know that the European population is growing old. The generation of current seniors grew up in different conditions and in a different cultural and political situation. Creative approaches and solutions were not required at that time as they are today. How to be prepared for change and at the same time train your brain and memory? A creative approach can be one of the answers. All project partners are providing adult and elderly education. We are partners who see a challenge in this project. A challenge how to bring elderly people an interesting and unique approach to education. Memory training is a strong topic. We know and we want to make it better. We have joined forces to bring creative methods to senior education. During our joint training events, we will try and verify specific creative methods. We get the feed back in the experimental group. During our mobilities, we discuss and elaborate the creative methods. After demanding but beautiful work with creative methods, a unique manual will be available to all project partners as well as other colleagues. We consider this manual as living guide - the collection of tried creative methods can be great opportunity for other educators to push the memory training to another level. We are also looking forward to communication activities, which we can be delivered, thanks to the interesting team. Through our project, we are bringing activation and stimulation of cognitive skills like thinking, memory, emotional expression and mental health. This is the prevention of memory loss, potential dementia syndroms and other mental ilnesses. We hope that this can be one of the way how we can help our lovely Europe to make a better place for live. We are ready! Let's make this project real.
We wanted to achieve: Increase the motivation and interest of seniors in the field of mental health. To network experts and create a platform for innovative methods proven in practice To inspire other professionals to work with seniors in a creative and innovative way Don't be afraid to use your creativity, imagination and creativity in educating adults We have created a unique project of implementing creative methods in the training of cognitive functions. The coordinator of the project "Creativity in the education of adults and seniors" was Centrum MEMORY n.o., which has long been dedicated to memory training of seniors as well as cognitive stimulation of people with dementia in Bratislava. The goal of the project was to use innovative and creative approaches in memory training, which offer multisensory stimulation for overall human stimulation. We invited organizations that have experience in this field to cooperate. The target group was healthy seniors as well as seniors with reduced cognitive ability. The main expectations, which we hope we have successfully fulfilled were: - elements of creativity and - stimulate cognitive functions and - fulfilled the principle of innovativeness.
We were approached by the need of seniors to learn and train their memory, but in a creative way. Creative methods thus increase the motivation of seniors to participate in such programs. The plan was to avoid traditional form of education. All partner organizations of the project work with seniors. Our goal was to find something creative, easy to use and with the right methodology. We assumed that we would create a new methodology together when all our shared experiences reached a suitable result. These results could be used for different types of seniors, not only healthy, but also for seniors with a decline in cognitive functions. Here was the mission of this project - to stimulate and activate their cognitive abilities through creative methods. Memory training has been proven to prevent massive memory loss and possible deterioration of cognitive functions. With this unique way of learning - they (and their brains) can experience great access. It could help them develop and stimulate their cognitive abilities such as memory, thinking, abstract experiences, verbal fluency, short and long term memory.
