The "Discover the Neighbors" project was designed for 40 young people. 20 young people came from Slovakia and 20 young people came from Ukraine. These were young people who came from geographically disadvantaged peripheral areas (rural areas away from the developed city, socially weaker conditions). The place of exchange was Chocholná-Velčice, part of Kykula, which is 14 kilometers away from the city of Trenčín. Through the youth exchange, we tried to move the participants in breaking down barriers, but also an awareness of cultural differences and similarities, the possibility of migration for work, respecting their nationalities, who live, work and work in the community. During the implementation of the project, we worked to create a positive relationship with the tolerance of nations, reducing discrimination and hate speech between different nationalities. Although these young people come from a socially or economically weaker environment that does not offer them many opportunities, such as young people living in cities and more developed areas. During the implementation, we mainly saw the effort and interest in the possibility of knowing where and how to look for employment in their environment where they live. We encouraged them to look for new stimuli and opportunities for the development of their community. 20 young people and 3 leaders from Ukraine took part. Our partner organization was Horonda, o.z., which sent a group of young people with leaders from Ukraine, but through the work activities of the family and the possibility of studying children living in Slovakia. For the measures created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we used the possibility that the partner organization Horonda, o.z. she sent us a group of young Ukrainian people living in Slovakia. This group of young people is associated under a community of people called Ukraine-Slovakia SOS. All young people from the Ukrainian group live permanently in Ukraine, but whether they are temporarily living in Slovakia due to migration for the work of their parents or study obligations. From Slovakia, 20 participants and 5 leaders participated, who come from socially or economically weaker conditions. Despite the fact that both groups of participants are divided by a border and some created communication barriers, a great effort was seen of both groups in communication with each other. The Slovak and Ukrainian groups communicated with each other without any problems, and when a communication problem arose, they all helped each other in overcoming it. The aim of the project was to strengthen the competence of young participants in making videos about nationalities, their differences, interesting facts, facts about countries (Slovakia, Ukraine). The specificity of the group was that they had a very strongly developed emotional perception of the environment and the community. Project participants are very active not only in their environment, but also in their countries of origin. They participate in various volunteer activities, the results of which were passed on to each other. The project included workshops that focused on various topics such as country history, the present, country development, the effects of politics and the economy on countries, employment or unemployment in countries, job mobility, education and learning about other cultures, experiences from volunteering and activities, practical activities selected directly for the exchange, but also theoretical knowledge and information, examples of practice and situations and role-playing games that they were able to master. During the exchange, we pointed to positive examples of successful people who had the courage to travel outside their country, migrating for work (problem with employment). These people are not only beneficial in the community of the new country where they work, and on the basis of these facts there was an exchange of attitudes, opinions and experiences.
