Objectives

In a time when Europe is facing uncertainty, while it is being challenged by multiple crisis, economic instability, Brexit, refugee crisis, many citizens are falling under the temptation to join either extremist or populist groups that are moving away from the original European idea, towards more xenophobic and authoritarian views, as such groups gain popularity by the day. As demonstrated by-elections and referendums across many European countries and the anti-EU movements gaining momentum. Young people are amongst the most vulnerable to the messages spread by such groups, as are also the ones most affected by the economic uncertainties and the ones who feel most distant from the representative democracies they live in. In this scenario, youth workers and youth organizations are ill-equipped to face and counter the powerful and professional public communication of the hate-groups. The purpose of this training course was to equip youth organizations and youth workers with the necessary tool to be a voice as well, to be heard and follow, and to deliver their message, much different from the loud "hate" one, which is being heard more and more. “You have the voice!” was a training course that aimed to support the professional development o young leaders and youth workers to raise the quality of their social media campaigns and knowledge on different platforms aiming for social change. We approached the idea of communication on different levels and include a hands-on Media Laboratory which will be the real practice. The training course used methods of experiential learning as role-plays, simulations, and case study methods and group sharing methods as small and large group discussions. "You have the voice!" took place in Slovakia and had a length of 7 days with 31 youth workers youth leaders, current or potential board members or volunteers from 10 countries was working together in order to set personal and professional goals and have the self-confidence to carry them out, to guide others on a course of action, to influence their behavior, and show them the way. The activity took place from 19 th - 27th June 2022 Travelling days were 19 th(arrival) and 27th (departure). The non-formal participatory methods were utilized to include simulation games, role play, plenary debates, interactive lectures, audio-visual presentations, brainstorming, small and large group discussions, self-assessment, and more. All working activities aimed to foster intercultural learning and exchange between participants from diverse backgrounds and young people with fewer opportunities.
