Background

Technology holds an indispensable place in our lives, but when used unconsciously, it brings risks and harms. According to the European 2020 Strategy & OECD reports, the rapid spread of internet use increases the risks that children and young people may face when using these technologies, and adolescents who spend more than 6 hours online per day are less likely to be happy. In OECD countries, 65% of 15-year-old students spend time on the internet, and 54% feel bad when they cannot access it. Research in Turkey shows that 83.8% of homes have internet access, and people spend an average of 7 hours a day online. According to a study by the Turkish Green Crescent, 3.6% of young people aged 12-18 in Turkey are addicted to the internet and technology, and 21.8% are on the verge of addiction. According to the "Technology Addiction (TA) Test" we administered to our students at school, 90% spent more than 5 hours a day on the internet and computer. Of this 90%, 90% experienced physical problems such as headaches, 80% did not eat healthily, and 50% made friends through virtual games. According to a needs analysis conducted on teachers, 72% needed TA education. The project was initiated to develop permanent solutions for TA.
