The gains desired to be given to students in new generation education exactly match the gains of IGCSE curriculum that we have been implementing since 2014. Therefore it is obvious that the greatest need is to have a staff of teachers trained and equipped with IGCSE discipline in the next education period. With this project we want to equip our own teaching staff with these skills. The ultimate aim of project is to integrate this content into curriculum by making up for our deficiencies in this regard and to implement this in IB and IGCSE curriculum in our school. It is to expand the schools that implement this curriculum in Turkey, to make it visible with successful results, to make it a national education model by creating an international network in the future and to become a school in this field. In addition planning CLIL lessons in Physics-Chemistry-Biology-Mathematics courses in the IGCSE and integrating this into lessons by exchanging ideas on classroom management, lesson planning and material development, enabling our teachers to improve their English communication skills, being a pioneer and leader in IGCSE curriculum in Turkey and in the world. Trying to achieve an educational content and success is also among our goals.
Our school Kartal Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, which has achieved successful results in this field as the first public school to start the International IGCSE program in Turkey, needed our teachers who teach in the field of IGCSE to receive a training on how to integrate English into their own branches. In the IGCSE program, teachers in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics teach their courses in English. We have seen that one of our most important needs is to be equipped to use this method known as CLIL and to teach in a foreign language. In addition, we have set among our goals to meet colleagues from different nations within the EU, to experience intercultural learning, to exchange ideas and to create a network for future international cooperation. Among the primary objectives of our project are to introduce CLIL to our language and science teachers who teach in the IGCSE program, to teach teachers the basic principles of CLIL, to plan CLIL lessons and to enable them to integrate it into their lessons by exchanging ideas on classroom management, lesson planning and material development. In addition, these courses will allow our teachers to improve their English communication skills.
