By implementing the project, we aimed to improve the professional knowledge and experience of our teachers working in our schools that are members of the consortium, to learn a practical teaching model, not grammar-oriented, unlike the current teaching style, and to train individuals who are confident in speaking English and can express themselves correctly. We aimed to contribute to the internationalization of our Provincial Directorate of National Education and our schools through transnational collaborations, and to provide our teachers with the necessary proficiency in order for our secondary school graduates to gain A2 level English speaking, understanding, listening and writing skills as a result of the implementation of the new teaching model learned with the Creative Methodology in Language Education in our country.
As the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, we conducted a survey on 66,190 students in 104 secondary schools across the province to determine how much speaking skill can be gained in English classes, and it was determined that 77% of our students could not speak English even though they had taken English lessons. By participating in the Creative Methodology in Language Education course of 22 teachers working in 11 secondary schools that are members of the project consortium, to increase their knowledge of speech-oriented methods and techniques, and to transfer these skills to other teachers in their schools, English lessons are taught in our consortium member schools with a conversation-oriented rather than a grammar-focus, and the problem of our students not speaking English is eliminated. To increase the English speaking skills of 11-15 year old students attending secondary school in Istanbul through in-service training activities, language workshops, teacher development and the dissemination of Speaking clubs, and to create a model for our country by maximizing this skill throughout our province in the coming years. We applied.
