Objectives

The needs analysis conducted by ECIC for the year 2018 has determined that skilled workers capable of manufacturing and assembling joinery sections of smart buildings in accordance with technological changes are needed. Additionally, there is a requirement for on-the-job training experience, updating our education technology in line with Industry 4.0, contributing to Europeanization awareness by recognizing new cultures, and practical use of a foreign language. It is expected that these mentioned needs will be addressed by providing on-the-job training to participants in host companies to find solutions. The aim is for participants to gain practical experience through long-term internships at different stations. Through the planned project, internships conducted abroad, technical visits, and socio-cultural activities, participants will have the opportunity to see innovations in the field firsthand, respond to the changing demands of Industry 4.0, contribute to their employability by becoming skilled professionals who can meet the needs of evolving industries, improve foreign language proficiency, cultivate a mindset that embraces diversity as richness, and aim to be individuals with high self-confidence.

Background

Since 2006,Vocational and Technical High Schools has implemented a modular system to train skilled workers who can meet the needs of the labor market. However, with globalization, industrialists have expressed concerns that VETS cannot produce skilled workers with its current curriculum. In this context, a SWOT analysis has been conducted to identify the needs of our school. Upon review of the existing program, it is evident that the modules related to our field are not suitable for training individuals capable of embracing the innovations brought by Industry 4.0. This is because graduates are unable to find employment in welding, as seen from their follow-ups (e-graduate). The main reason for this is the inadequacy of modules related to current courses and the lack of practical application of theoretical knowledge. It is planned for students to gain practical experience through internships in businesses during their 12th grade, focusing on courses they have theoretically studied in the 10th and 11th grades. However, since these businesses do not accept interns due to their perceived lack of practical skills, our students are losing the opportunity to become qualified workers who can meet the needs of the industry.
