Geopark means the regulated area of natural fields which has geological, geomorphological, biological and cultural heritage elements all together having the value in the sense of uniqueness, aesthetic, scientific and economical side with the intention of education, tourism and economic benefits. Protection and sustainability has a vital importance for these fields. Geopark is a fact that has a demand and is tried to be created all around the World although its lower popularity in Turkey. In general, main and the most important benefits of geoparks for the society are education, protection, consciousness and economic development. Like every other field, education has an essential role for the sustainability of life in nature. This sustainability is only possible with knowing and understanding the nature well. The most effective method of education to introduce the earth that we live on to society with every aspect and to create a nature protection awareness is the education provided directly in nature. So, the geopark training mission gains importance at this point. This 7-day Youth Exchange Project is going to be organized for the participants willing to undergo this training via non-formal training methods and willing to be a “Geopark Ambassadors” for the sustainability of geoparks This 7 month long Youth Exchange Project, aiming at creating Geopark Envoys, is going to take place in KULA-SALİHLİ Geopark which is the first and single UNESCO Geopark of Turkey and in Salihli between 8th and 14th November 2020 with the attendance of 25(4 youth and 1 group leader from each country) participants under the coordinatorship of Turkey, with the partnership of Hungary, Poland, Romania and Spain. With the intentions of protecting geoparks, increasing and sustaining awareness, our partners, having UNESCO GEOPARK in their own countries as well, are going to get involved in our Project with their participants who are going to undertake the duty of being “Geopark Ambassadors”. Youth and Youth Workers are going to contribute to EU Youth Strategy by gaining knowledge and skills about geo-heritage via the activities planned to take place with the participation of 5 organisations in total. If we want to transfer what we have now to next generations, our Youth Group “Geopark Youth Club”, primarily setting to work with preserving what we have, is looking for ambassadors to protect these geological formations with the awareness that it is not possible to recreate the whole structure telling us about the process from the formation of earth crust to present (fossil, rock, mineral, mine and morphological formations), long geological periods, products and natural formations. It must be the nature itself to help the next generations after us to understand, know and learn the nature they live in. On that point, protecting the nature that we live in and any product belonging to this nature gains importance. Our participants, who will learn by visiting, seeing and enjoying, are going to learn preserving consciousness and that continuity of natural life is essential and being an Ambassador. Geoparks have a great importance for preserving geological heritage. Accordingly, as “GEOPARK YOUTH CLUB”, we point out Turkey’s first and unique Geopark, KULA-SALİHLİ Geopark and aim at; *Raising awareness among youth for preservation and sustainability of geoparks; *Let the youth observe the environment around geopark site, all the formations and the value it added to region; *Let them learn by observing several geological and aesthetic areas, lava caves, amazing waterfalls, hot springs, wetlands, rock formations and rawins. *Contributing non-formal and formal geographical education by sharing scientific, historic and cultural information, skills and values with students and teachers *Creating a current awareness about history and importance for society of region’s geological heritage *Encouraging new trainings on geo-preservation, sustainable development and decreasing the risk of disaster. *Preparing presentations and images to inform youth about geology, culture, geo-tourism, bio-diversity, geoparks and geomorphology. As a result of our Project, by creating 25 Geopark Ambassadors, we primarily aim at raising awareness for preserving Geological Heritages firstly in their own countries and also all around Europe and the World, taking the lead for needed legal regulations about preserving and sustaining geoparks and make all the partners know about the importance of initiatives like EGN (European Geopark Network) and GGN(Global Geopark Network) which are totally civil initiatives.
