Content: According to the latest World Drug Report, drug addiction is increasing day by day in Europe and the world. Besides, it is stated that nearly 250 million people between the ages of 15-64 have used drugs at least once in their lives. Our team, which has been working on the use of addictive substances in Düzce since 2015, has seen that addiction is becoming more widespread and the age of use is decreasing each day and this has played an active role in the preparation of the project. When the data published by TÜİK are examined; 372,094 deaths in recent years are direct substance related deaths. This is a seriously high rate. In the EU drugs report published in Brussels in 2019 showed that most people between 15-34 years old in Turkey use drugs. In the report, it is noted that the overdose death rate in Turkey increased seriously in the last decade. In the report of the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction in 2019, 17.5 million people aged 15-34 years in Europe used cannabis, 2.6 million people used cocaine, and almost 1 percent of those over the age of 15 in EU countries tend to use cannabis. On the other hand, it is warned that drug traffic digitalized in Turkey, Norway and the European Union member countries. As a matter of country policy, it would be optimistic to think that measures to be taken only by local authorities will control such a multidimensional disease. In this context, there is a need for regular follow-up models that provide understandable information to young people, identify and control risk factors. In this context, the main objective of the project is to increase the competence of youth workers in preventing addiction. Specific objectives of the project are: To inform youth workers about counseling for adolescents and addiction illness and monitoring young people at risk. To reduce trial, start and use rates of drug in partner regions. To teach youth workers ways of early intervention in risk groups. To increase cooperation between local and transnational institutions on substance addiction prevention.
