Objectives

In the 21st century, the importance of social skills is increasing in both education and business environments. On 10 June 2016, the European Commission adopted a new and comprehensive Skills Agenda for Europe. The aim is to ensure that people develop a broad set of skills from early on in life and to make the most of Europe’s human capital, which will ultimately boost employability, competitiveness and growth in Europe. Critical thinking, entrepreneurship, problem solving or digital competences are just some of the competences enshrined by the New Skills Agenda. hese skills emerge today as key to allow people to develop good-quality jobs and fulfil their potential as confident, active citizens. Importance and recognition of the 21st-century skills in the world, developing individuals, creative abilities of individuals need to be given an important role in the employment of individuals. These social skills are not sufficiently developed for individuals to express themselves, to engage in entrepreneurial mobility and hiring, and there are inadequacies and barriers. Nowadays, these social skills are critical for employability of individuals. Formal and non-formal education opportunities available to young people for the development of these skills are very limited. The need for formal and non-formal education opportunities to develop these skills is rapidly increasing as the modern world begins to see these social abilities as individual skills that need to be developed. In particular, individuals living in small cities experience disadvantages in finding workshops, courses and other opportunities to develop and demonstrate their critical thinking skills, creativity and productivity. Therefore, regardless of their academic and analytical competence, the development of social skills such as vision, effective communication, self-confidence, ability to take initiative, leadership spirit, learning to learn, critical and creative thinking required by each young person in order to provide employment in their fields of work are manifested as required by the age. Our project in Turkey is based on the idea of diminishing lack of opportunities to develop young people’s capacity in the developing 21st century skills in the line with the requirements of our era across Europe and the world is addressing to this problem. Considering this idea, our project aims to contribute to realistic studies on addressing the basic problems such as lack of self-confidence in young individuals, awareness of skills and talents, unemployment stemming from skill deficiencies, limitation of creativity and critical thinking. In order to increase non-formal education opportunities in addition to formal education, to focus on developable skills that non-formal education opportunities in practice require young people living in the 21st century, to solve youth unemployment and social problems with skills and talent development, to solve the concept of lifelong learning, we aim to: To raise awareness about the UN World Youth Skills Day of 15 of July and to contribute to the studies on behalf of this week To work towards achieving the targett in four main areas of the European Union's 2020 educational objectives (Contribution to lifelong learning and mobility - Contribution to quality and equality in skill development - Contribution to social cohesion, equality and active citizenship in education - Creativity in every educational layer (formal or non-formal) support to civil society mobility in line with these objectives. To add a new one to the academic and practical studies on the basic concepts of 21st century skills development, lifelong learning, cultural education, contribution to non-formal learning and social skills that the European Union has been working on more and more in recent years; develop suggestions to light future studies on this subject To contribute to the efforts to increase young entrepreneurship and initiative in European societies To draw attention to applicable projects, policies and strategies in order to prevent unemployment, social problems, lack of skills and education disadvantages in European societies To attract the attention of local and national formal and non-formal education institutions, politicians, decision-makers, non-governmental organizations and public institutions towards 21st century skills and social skills development and to provide ideas and inspiration to increase the work done in this field.
