As a result of various human activities such as burning fossil fuels, industrial processes, land use changes and deforestation, the accumulation of important greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been increasing rapidly since the industrial revolution and the natural greenhouse effect has been strengthened. Looking at the observed global changes to date: 0.5 °C increase in temperature over the last century, 20 cm increase in sea level since the beginning of this century, decrease in stratosphere temperature, increase in precipitation in mid-latitudes and precipitation in subtropical latitudes. There has been a significant increase in global warming over the past 10 years. Therefore, countries and governments have taken action to combat climate change. In this context, the European Union has also created the 2030 climate and energy framework, and set EU-wide targets and policy targets for the 2021-2030 period. These: Key targets for 2030: • At least 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions • At least 32% share for renewable energy • Determined as at least 32.5% increase in energy efficiency. However, under the heading "if we don't act", the commission: -There will be 400,000 premature newborn deaths annually due to air pollution, - 90,000 people will die annually due to heat waves (according to a scientific and medical study, after the 2003 heat wave, about 70,000 additional deaths were recorded in Europe compared to previous years), With a temperature increase of 5 °C in the EU, 660,000 additional asylum applications will be made annually 1 billion people will be directly affected by the rising sea level by 2050. It states that as a result of a temperature increase of -4 degrees, 16% of animal and plant species will disappear. -There will be 40% less usable water in the southern regions of the European Union, - Half a million people will be exposed to flood disasters every year, - A 3 ℃ increase in global average temperature will result in an annual loss of € 190 billion There will be a 20% increase in food prices by 2050 due to climate change. (https://ec.europa.eu/clima/policies/strategies_en) Considering the situation in terms of Turkey: While the number of natural disasters caused by climate change in our country in 2000 was 140, this number was 600 as of 2018. Data from the General Directorate of Meteorology reveal that the average temperatures in Turkey are gradually increasing, the average precipitation tends to decrease, the average humidity is decreasing and evaporation is increasing. In 2017, the average temperature in Turkey increased by 1.5 degrees compared to 1970 and amounted to 14.2 degrees. Therefore, it is extremely important to raise the awareness of societies on climate change, which closely concerns all segments of society, even all living species on earth, so that the most fundamental factor and trigger of climate change is human beings. In this context, the GENERAL OBJECTIVE of our project was to contribute to raising awareness of local people and policy-making institutions on climate change. The specific objectives of our project are: - Raising the awareness of 30 young people from Turkey (5), Estonia (5), Czech Rep. (5), Romania (5), Finland (5), Italy (5) about climate change and increasing their level of knowledge about carbon footprint . - To create awareness of volunteering among young people and to enable them to carry out information studies on climate change in different parts of the society, -Climate change awareness training was given to at least 1000 students (10-16 years old), - Carbon footprint measurement was carried out for 4 public institutions (District Governorship, Directorate of National Education, Governorship and School) -1000 climate change brochures were distributed -1 nature walking activity was to perform -to raise awareness of the people with visits to 2 villages. -To develop the entrepreneurship skills of young people with the activities to be held, -To improve the language skills of young people and to increase their awareness of the linguistic diversity of Europe, - to increase the collaborative and teamwork characteristics of young people. -To ensure that young people are individuals who respect cultural differences, -To increase the capacities of NGOs.
