The Thrace region, which has experienced rapid industrialization in the last thirty years, is exposed to intense environmental pollution caused by industrialization. This industrialization negatively affected the Ergene River, which is an important surface water resource of the region. While the Ergene River was known as the lifeblood of agriculture until 30 years ago, today it has been exposed to a pollution load above its carrying capacity due to industrial, urban and domestic wastes, and chemicals used in agriculture and have been heavily polluted. This pollution, which occurs in the river, has already reached the dimensions that threaten the drinking water and health of the people of the region in addition to economic losses such as loss of production and losses in the quality of products, especially in irrigated farming areas (http://bit.ly/2ldx64l). As the Uzunköprü Youth Group, in the project that we have carried out in 2015 within the scope of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Programme project named ‘’Ergene is Springing to Life’’; we have carried out studies to draw attention to pollution the problem of the Ergene River, which is known as the lifeblood of the region, caused by industrial and domestic wastes and to assure that the people living in the villages close by the river are aware of this problem and are acknowledged on this matter. (http://bit.ly/2kPOFqK). In 2014, when we prepared this project, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization's ‘’Tekirdağ Province 2014 Environmental Status Report” indicates that 230,000 m3 / day domestic and 330,000 m3 / day industrial wastewater is discharged to the Ergene Basin (6.5 m3 / sec) and The water of the river is reported to be of 4th-grade water quality. (http://bit.ly/2msKtNY). Despite the intervening years (and the Ergene Basin Conservation Action Plan initiated by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs since 2011); According to the latest “2017 Environmental Status Report of Tekirdağ Province; It is stated that the water quality of the river is still 4th grade and the deterioration in water quality continues to increase. (http://bit.ly/2mnUWdG). Inspired by the problems mentioned above and the results of our previous projects, we implemented our project ‘’Be the Voice of Ergene River’’ as a complementary of our previous project. The aim of this project; to create public opinion for the rescue of the Ergene River and to encourage the relevant public institutions to take action with the campaign (documentary creation, posters, brochures and infographics, preparing public spot, designing social media visuals, awareness march, the event of not jumping into the river). Our goals; -"Be the Voice of Ergene River!" social media campaign launched Attention was drawn to the pollution problem caused by industrial facilities and domestic wastes of the Ergene River with 43 young people. - By examining the studies carried out to save rivers in the countries of the partners and in the world, good practice models were learned and their applicability to our country was evaluated. -The project documentary titled "The Silent Scream of Ergene" was created, shared with the relevant public institutions and encouraged to take action. -Project participants and local people have been realized that they have the right to live in a healthy environment and studies have been carried out on advocacy activities. -43 participants and local youth were informed about E+ projects and opportunities, contributing to the spread of the program.
