Objectives

Our Mother Earth is being confronted with a number of environmental issues. Global warming, acid rain, air pollution, waste disposal, ozone layer depletion, water pollution, and climate change are all examples of environmental challenges that touch every human, animal, and nation on this world. The exploitation of our globe and the deterioration of our ecosystem have increased at an alarming rate over the last few decades. As a result of our failure to preserve the Earth, natural disasters have struck us more frequently in the form of flash floods, fires, earthquakes, snow storms and tsunamis. To tackle with this huge problem there have been a lot of steps made however it is not enough yet. When we look at fro EU side, a lot of actions have taken place. 2020 Environment Action Plan, EU Green Deal etc. To reach those targets we have to act all together. As a human being who lives in this world, we believe that we must be sure that we did everything we can do. This is the point of origin of our project. Furthermore, when we think about the situation in local side, Lake Van is Turkey's largest lake and the world's largest soda lake. Van Lake's aquatic environment is distinct from both freshwater and marine ecosystems. On the lake, there are bird rooms. However, due to pollution, between 8 and 12 tonnes of waste are collected daily along the lake shore. Water contamination has reached alarming levels in the province of Van, and it has been discovered that the pollution load of water is increasing. As a young members of Van community we wanted to implement an environmental project which raise awareness among young people and share good initiatives about sustainable practices. So we come up with the idea of NoN. This project will provide them with an excellent opportunity to learn a few new skills through the activities we will conduct. This initiative will allow youth to demonstrate to them that sustainability does not require them to give up everything and that modest actions can already have a positive impact on the environment. By focusing on up cycling, we planned to bring attention to and address environmental and sustainable development issues. We intend to demonstrate the benefits that following this model may bring to an individual or a community, as well as the influence on the environment, society, and the planet. We will have a beneficial economic, environmental, and social impact if we follow this model. Additionally, while some concepts (sustainability, reuse, up cycling, eco conception, critical consumerism) are becoming more ingrained in our lexicon, many young people still have no understanding what they mean. Another objective of this project was enabling us to share information on what is happening in the countries that participated in the project, as well as about successful environmental efforts. We believe that if young people from different countries continue to meet and exchange ideas through this type of project, their behaviour, as well as the behaviour of those around them, and then the behaviour of those in their country, will change more quickly, assisting us in achieving more sustainable development. VAGEAD youth hoped to raise awareness about sustainability and waste in the cities surrounding Lake Van and throughout the world through this project. In other aspect, this project was a first mobility option for young people who have fewer opportunities. We targeted to foster intercultural variety, linguistic learning, tolerance, respect, and diversity through this effort. We intended to facilitate educational and employment mobility. We aimed to show sustainable living methods and improve young people’s comprehension of the concepts associated with the topic (sustainability, reuse, up cycling, eco conception, critical consumption). Raising awareness on what is happening around us and Europe was our target. We wanted to address how to reduce waste by focusing on our own behaviour. With all activities we planned develop linguistic learning and tolerance among young participants.
