Education Services wished to achieve more professional development within the field of self organised learning for languages teachers given the evidence presented from the previous project and to further extend the capacity of the role of etwinning Ambassadors as professional mentors in using etwinning to enhance the international dimension to learning languages. Glasgow also wished, as a lead Local Authority in the development of Ambassador mentoring with the British Council network, to further enhance the potential of mentoring to secure more robust improvement through EU engagement.
This project was applied for as a proposal to extend the impact of previous Erasmus Plus initiatives: a KA201 project on developing self organised learning in mathematics and a KA101 in etwinning Ambassador mentoring. The idea came from the final mobility pre covid of a previous KA1 project with Madrid on the role of mentoring and eTwinning and partners were keen to collaborate further. It also combined previous professional learning derived from a KA2 strategic cooperation led by Glasgow on the potential of self organised learning SOLE. The proposal was designed to enhance the professional learning gained through these previous projects and allow a further group of Glasgow teachers to learn more about self organised learning and its capacity within another learning context- languages- and also be supported through the expertise of etwinning Ambassadors whose mentoring had proved to be so valuable to teachers in the past in securing long term improvement through engagement in European mobilities.
