Objectives

After schools participants agreed that identifying and enhancing digital skills across the curriculum and in every classroom is a key priority to support pupils and secure improvement, this project aimed to meet these objectives: 1 - increase the competences, skills and confidence of teaching staff to improve their digital provision for learners. 2 - improve schools' understanding about developing a 'more inclusive digital learning environment' so learners' digital competences fit for 21st-century life and work. 3 - increase motivation and satisfaction for staff through participation in courses with other teaching professionals within Wales and across Europe.

Background

The application was firmly grounded in the Digital Competency Framework (DCF) Wales 2016, which aligned with the specific requirements of the schools that were and are part of our consortium. Based on the needs analysis conducted among the participant schools, the crucial area that emerged as a key priority was the 'development of the Digital Classroom.' Schools in the application aimed to facilitate an increase in digital competence so staff and pupils could "encapsulate the skills that will help learners thrive in an increasingly digital world". Our goal across all schools was to foster pupils' understanding of Europe, enhance their competencies as global citizens, and their awareness of the benefits of high standards in digital competence. Participant schools believe it is crucial to equip staff and pupils with the necessary digital skills required for an active role in today's digital society.
