Objectives

This project was conceived through an identified need by schools, and it aimed to support school staff to provide pupils with a world-class 'inclusive' education supporting the challenges in schools/communities of equity, diversity, and inclusion. ILG aimed to foster transnational positive collaboration and promote inclusive teaching approaches across Europe. By pursuing the following objectives, the consortium sought to make significant contributions to the improvement of the teaching/learning process and the development of a society and community that is inclusive and tolerant. These objectives were: 1 - To achieve high standards of Inclusion, Respect, and Tolerance across Europe 2 - To encourage collaboration and school partnerships 3 - To increase the competences, skills, and confidence of teaching staff to develop more inclusive and diverse experiences in the classroom 4 - To share good practices and promote positive innovation

Background

All the organisations within this consortium were committed to upholding the principles of diversity, fairness, and inclusion in order to enhance the quality of education and elevate pupils' levels of achievement. Based on the New Welsh Curriculum, we were aware that Welsh schools' aim during 2017-21 would be to implement the new curriculum focusing on leadership, professional learning, excellence, and inclusion and equity within a self-improving system. The project was also a response to recognising the crucial role schools play in assisting pupils in navigating the current complex and disconcerted world. Within this project, we aimed to address the critical themes of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the framework of schools and their broader communities.
