Objectives

Our objectives of the project were the following: • Provide structured and vocationally relevant work placement opportunities for 485 learners across 12 vocational areas • Enable learners to develop their technical and soft skills and contribute to improved employability • Inspire and motivate our learners and broaden their perspectives in the labour market • Promote intercultural awareness and language learning amongst learners and staff • Strengthen our staff competencies across the organisation in relation to European mobility activity • Enhance our curriculum and course offer • Strengthen our European cooperation and networks We accomplished these through 16 x 2-week professional development and vocational mobilities. The objectives related to the Erasmus+ programme are: - Improving the key competences of and skill and better equipping them for the labour market. - Improving delivery of learning and internationalisation of the College - Promoting language learning and intercultural awareness We hope to address unemployment on a local, national and international scale on top of bestowing youth with confidence and self-belief.

Background

The reasons for delivering this project are: - To contribute to our wider organisational vision and values BDC’s vision statement is to be a “truly great College delivering inspirational learning and excellence through career-focused education”. We had experience carrying out 5 Erasmus KA1 projects sending students on vocational placements. We are committed to broadening the horizons and aspirations of our students' career prospects. We hoped that this project will aid in creating a better future for them and the wider community by increasing their perceptions and experiences of the world. - To achieve excellence in learning, teaching and assessment From experience, Erasmus KA1 makes our students more responsive to labour market changes. This project will allow them to gain more experience and understanding of this topic – something that is key for our learners due to being situated in one of London’s least affluent regions and having limited access to such opportunities. - To consolidate our European mobility and cooperation As a response to the numerous advantages that Erasmus+ projects offer our learners, we thought this program would massively aid their professional development, soft skills and life development.
