The target was to engage participants in mobility activities that moved them through the sporting pathway and on and into the top-tiers of learning, using the expertise of overseas' coaches, instructors and teachers. Utilising hosting partners existing structures complemented with International sporting associations i.e. Italian Football Federation / National Sports School (Malta) / Top Training Tenerife it was the goal to place participants in sporting pyramids that increased performance through the associated actions and processes of performing specific tasks or functions. The notion was to increase participants' learning in their chosen educational fields, increase their awareness on the various routes into professional sports, and enhance their educational qualifications within European performance and excellence sporting modules by extending learning. The participants would engage within the sports development model for participation so that they could experience the varying levels of participation from Foundation to Excellence and understand the role of sport support services i.e. medical, science and analysis that offered wider choices to continue to be involved in sport outside of performance.
A consortium partnership brought together sporting and educational organisations to create opportunities for sport studying participants to engage and participate in European sporting pathway models. It was considered that the mobility project would continue to motivate participants to progress with their subject choices either participating, coaching, instructing or providing a service so that they'd be able to apply their skills and talents toward securing a main paid occupation. Using consortium partners learning groups, a tiered approach would enable participants of varying degrees of abilities (performance) and educational attainment i.e. certificate to extended diploma to access the mobility project as part of an educational continuum that would detail levels of competencies linked to increases in knowledge and skills within a sporting context. The intent was to tailor learning programmes that would support personal development and progressive development toward the technical, tactical and mental capacities for participants to improve throughout the mobility project. Working with experienced hosts would provide ample opportunities for interactions with the various teaching organisations contributing to this project.
