Intercultural/intergenerational education and (lifelong)learningAccess for disadvantaged

Objectives

The objectives we wanted to achieve, were to provide new and exciting opportunities to apprentices and students and those experiencing financial and social disadvantage, to further enrich their lives and widen their skills by participating in placements in charities in Europe. We also wanted to build on our partnership with our Romanian, Hungarian and Slovenian partners. Thus ensuring our participants received a valuable and skill enhancing placement. We specifically wanted our participants to benefit from working in charities, whereby they could experience first hand the culture and challenges facing their respective hosts, whilst improving their social, language, and study skills.

Background

We applied for this project because we had experience of placing students/ apprentices in EU work places previously through Erasmus+ and through other funding sources. The experience for our students and apprentices was both unique and life changing. it is an innovative learning experience whereby students not only learn about their area of study, but also benefit from additional skills development in team building, resilience, problem solving, time management, leadership and other softer skills.
