Objectives

We sought to build on the wealth of knowledge and experience gained in Elevate 1, 2 & 3, taking that learning out to a wider audience plus give more PSP staff & learner participants the opportunity to experience the European Dimension which has been life changing for previous Elevate Erasmus+ participants of whom more than 40% had never been out of the UK before or even held a passport. Their experience has been life changing with 100% successfully moving onto further training or paid employment. A key objective was to enable partners to work collaboratively & establish defined pathways to create an educated, experienced workforce: • Improve employability opportunities for individuals in recovery from drugs and/or alocohol • Broaden the horizons of the participants & give them the confidence to leave benefits & move into paid employment • Change employers’ perceptions • Provide new opportunities for individuals claiming benefits • Build on the learning already undertaken by individuals and organisations within a European Dimension • Learn more about Social Enterprise & Social Firms models utilised in partner countries • Increase the numbers of individuals moving into employment & sustained recovery. Recruit 15 learners & 9 staff

Background

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde - the commissioning agent for vocational services to the recovery community brought together 30 partners with a focus on identifying and learning about Good Practice in education and training both within the UK and beyond. This proved to be so successful that the service was put out to tender and the NHS withdrew from the Erasmsus+ Consortium and was relaced by Move On. This Project introduced a new element to vocational training for people in recovery. • Creating pathways from volunteering to education to employment • Offer greater inclusion of disadvantaged groups • Enable people to gain skills and qualifications • Ensure our education, training and policies contribute to Europe 2020 objectives, smart, sustainable and inclusive growth The project built on existing programmes and the success of the Erasmus+ Projects in 2016 and 2018, by offering work placements and learning opportunities in the EU was designed to act as a bridge from previous chaotic lifestyles through training to employment stability . This gave a wider work and social perspective to their milieu. To thrive in the future, it is crucial individuals gain a wider perspective and experience different cultures and ways of working .
