Objectives

We intended to support the personal development of 50 staff members through funding training courses to build personal and professional competences in Europe. The European experience of the participant was planned to enhance development through course attendance in another culture with its own work practices, language, behaviours, attitudes & norms with European counterparts offering an opportunity to network, share best practice from not only the course provider and host country but from a range of countries therefore further developing communication & team building skills. • Improved competencies linked to vocational expertise based on new approaches & models of delivery gained from international learning experience • Innovative delivery of curriculum based on experiences & enhanced creativity • Increased knowledge of the benefits of international mobility activities for Adult Learners – this is an invaluable tool in raising the profile of international training & work experience opportunities to Adult Learners in their vocational areas • Highly motivational for staff, 100% staff satisfaction, improved staff performance.

Background

We applied to further develop our European activities offered to both staff and Adult Learners to directly contribute to the Strategic Priorities of our College as defined in our Three Year Strategic Plan: the funding and support ensures that we support our learners and staff to address local labour market requirements, targeting skills gaps and developing enterprising solutions and resources to contribute to our economy and a cohesive society. Our European Development Plan (EDP) strongly reflects our College’s Strategic priorities, and aims ultimately to make a difference to our learners, improving their employability prospects in the European labour market by providing opportunities to enhance their skills and competences.
