Objectives

The Erasmus+ RESOLVE: Equity programme was designed in a pre-COVID and pre-war in Europe age and in turn had objectives that reflected life in a pre-2020 world. RESOLVE: Equity built upon 4 KA1 projects delivered between 2018 and 2019: RESOLVE: East; RESOLVE: Reconciliation throu Youth; RESOLVE: Play and RESOLVE: Sport, as well as RESOLVE: West which started in late 2019. RESOLVE: Equity aimed to build upon the successes of these early Erasmus + RESOLVE youth exchange projects to provide the skills, understanding & inter-cultural experience a young person needs to overcome personal conflicts, while also developing professional skills to resolve their own social conflicts on a community-level+. This project specifically focused on Gender Equality and Gender Equity as a community conflict issue - which required an increase in awareness, as well as skills on embedding gender equality methods that young people could use in their communities, on a bedrock of RESOLVE: Reconciliation for Development methods and tools. RESOLVE: Equity aimed to develop young women and young men in understanding Gender Inequality, promoting Gender Equity and offer a platform for young Gender Equality advocates seeking experience as future Gender Equality changemakers. The project aimed to: - to recognise gender inequality -provide the skills/understanding/experience a young person needs to engage with gender inequality 'social marginalisers' and advocate gender equity -share expertise/best practice/skills/support to young people in their delivery of their local Social Action activities -offer a sustained network for partner countries’ future advocates to promote gender equity beyond the lifetime of the programme Gender inequality and a lack of equity continued to be a real issue in all of our partners’ countries and the development of Gender-based equity advocacy skills in a learning model, supported the next generation of community leaders to have the skills they need to address inequality. Additionally, as a RESOLVE youth exchange project, original application also recognised that very often Community leaders lack the experience & knowledge to manage local conflict in the UK and partner countries of this kind. With a lack in skill-sets, partners aimed to engage with young people, our community leaders of tomorrow, to develop the skills they needed to manage community conflict before it increases to the level of every day violent conflict, through this project, especially in relation to Gender Inequality. Mobilising the expertise developed through RESOLVE: East/other RESOLVE youth exchanges and through the ongoing work of the RESOLVE: Network, Asfar and our partners aimed to address this conflict, while developing the community leaders of tomorrow with a specific focus on Gender Equality and Gender Equity. In the Caucasus community disengagement & ongoing-war effects still prevents social cohesion & social inclusion especially for Women and members of the LGBTQ+ communities. Whereas Gender Inequality remains a significant issue in Morocco and Turkey, with basic rights lacking. In the UK and Italy, gender equality is at a higher level than some partner countries, however, it remains a barrier to community participation and development. The next generation of Community Peacebuilders, who are now actively required in Europe and neighbouring countries must to be prepared to address social division, to ensure the rejuvenation of their communities & the social cohesiveness necessary to prevent long term conflicts. Key Objectives - support young people to develop skills in: 1. Sport for Development/Simulation games & how to use techniques to resolve gender inequality in their communities 2. Gender Equality Social Advocacy competencies 3. Engage with Social Marginalisers of gender inequality 4. how Social Action & Citizenship can resolve inequalities 5. designing a Gender Equity strategy as part of RESOLVE Peace Network & ensure its sustainability 6. Develop minimum of 5 wider non-cognitive skills amongst participants : Leadership; Team Building; Communication; Social Awareness; EU Key Competencies 7. design & launch a Gender Equity-themed Social Action activity in each community 8. develop transferable employability/enterprise skills which they can be utilised both in addressing gender inequality and in their future careers
