The main aim of the project was to cultivate the further professional development of young people in United Kingdom, Lithuania, Turkey, Estonia and Croatia through the cultural exchange, involving starting to build a youth expert base in each community. The project aimed to raise awareness among the young people of the power in the audiovisual language and particularly the potential of emphasising their own voice as individuals and taking part in building a better future for their home communities. Finally we wished to consolidate the cooperation between Hamer Youth Group and All partners and this was achieved. Our specific objectives were met as the project: - Raised participants’ awareness about the techniques of audiovisual language (in order for them to be better informed as active citizens and thrive in increasingly media-varied environments). The groups of young people engaged enthusiastically with filmmaking and worked alongside experienced leaders who inspired them. - Fostered digital literacy and employability by developing skills and competences according to the “New Skills for New Jobs” EU flagship initiative and to the “European Framework for Key Competences for Lifelong Learning”. Many of the young participants were inspired to pursue further training within film studies with a view to a career in the field. - Provided communication tools in order to improve the quality of internal and external communication. The possibility of communicating ideas using short film was understood as valuable and possible by many of the participants. - Involved young people in reflection on the priorities that affect them and stimulate them to play a constructive role in the development of their own communities, using videos as an expressive way to enhance constructive debate around the European Citizenship. With current decisions in the UK around the EU, discussion was lively and young people were keen to promote the value of this opportunity to work with peers from Turkey. Similarly Turkish participants highly valued the opportunity to communicate with English speaking peers and potentially audiences through the project. - Encouraged taking initiative and entrepreneurship to stimulate the ability to turn ideas into actions as the designed video and sound resulted in a final product. All participants reported gaining confidence through the process of seeing the activity turn into a screening of their work. - Provided a non-formal environment in which young people could learn to work in co-operation with others. The flexibility within the programme: workshops and self-directed timetabling within each group facilitated motivated and hard working groups of participants. - Empowered young people to develop their competences and critical capacity to fight against unemployment and social exclusion. The young people were able to see how film and video was constructed. This enables them to make critical assessments of media images and film in order to maintain an objective position from which they can assess the content and message. - Strengthened the European dimension of projects and to facilitate comparison within youth field issues at a European level and to learn new strategies for the development of participants' own communities and personal projects. The national partners worked well together to deliver the project and monitor throughout. We are keen to work together again and have learned from each others' methodologies. - Enabled experimental new ways to communicate and cooperate with local institutions and community through videos and sounds, involving local people through their active participation and debate on relevant issues for them. The groups of young people made short films involving the local population. In this way they engaged with concerns and issues relevant to them. In Turkey at this time there is much political change and the local population is changing and adapting as a result. For the young people from the UK especially this was very educational. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj3rKB2nraw
